Chase Brown Story

 Chase Brown story:

A Navy Nuclear trained Electricians Mate, Second Class Petty Officer (E-5) with over 6 years of experience in the areas of Navy Nuclear Submarine electrical distribution and casualty control operations.  As a Navy Nuclear Electrician stationed onboard the USS Henry M. Jackson, he coordinated with other watch stander’s to safely operate a Navy Nuclear Propulsion Plant as Electrical Operator, Throttleman, and Auxiliary Electrician Aft. As Electrical Operator, he maintained continuity of power throughout the ship by ensuring ship’s generators, motor-generators, and shore power was operating properly and load distributed. As Throttle man, he coordinated with the Reactor Operator, and Engineering Officer of the Watch to maintain propulsion for the ship. As Auxiliary Electrician Aft, he continuously patrolled the Engine room, monitored plant indications, and informed the Electrical Operator of any equipment issues and combat casualties immediately.  When not on watch, he performed maintenance on generators, motor-generators, pumps, motors, fans, motor controllers, switchboards, and other shipboard power plant items.

His journey with our program started when he was referred to us by his father who works in the utility industry, along with some career advice from his Navy Chief at his command to enroll into the program.  Chase enrolled into the Power4Vets program on 17 June 2016 and he graduated from the Power System Operation courses in January 2017 and passed his NERC Reliability Certification exam in June 2017.  He currently works for Idaho Power as a Station Technician Apprentice II and will surely get moved into a System Operator position once a position opens at Idaho Power.

Congratulations, to Chase Brown for believing in the Power4Vets program and we are proud of your success!
